Axis Football League is the new instalment in the indie rugby series that has been loved and supported by the community since 2015. The latest version has been released after nearly two years, bringing many improvements in gameplay, graphics and especially the customisation system.

Flexible customisation in the Axis Football League

The familiar team creation and playbook creation features return, but the highlight this year is the self-made tactics mode. Players can draw out every running route, every blocking phase or every detail in the attacking strategy – bringing an unprecedented deep tactical experience. The entire default playbook has also been rebuilt with over 1,000 hand-crafted moves, over 80 modern formations and many types of running routes, such as sluggos, whips, angles, and a new block & release mechanism.

The game has been upgraded strongly in terms of visuals and stadium feel: lighting, weather, shadows and pitches are all more realistic. The new commentary system, voiced by Andy McNamera, supports multiple names of players, rather than just jersey numbers. The spectators have also been redesigned, with city-specific cheers, increased volume during tense moments, and team-matched jersey colours. In addition, the instant replay feature is introduced for the first time, bringing each match to life.

The controls and movement mechanics have been significantly improved: smooth acceleration, smarter blocking logic, pivots, and realistic dribbling. Players receive direct feedback when making catches, tackles, dribbles, and acrobatics. The game also adds lob passes, improved throw trajectories, and upgraded AI with risk-adjustment bars for each situation. The depth chart is more detailed, clearly dividing the positions in defence and offence. Star players are highlighted, helping them make their mark on the field.

Franchise Mode

Franchise Mode continues to be a highlight with a series of new features:

• AI trading: computers can automatically negotiate and send and receive transfer offers.
• Trade draft pick: players are allowed to exchange draft picks.
• Salary cap: adds depth to team management strategies.

New generation of players: the draft and transfer player creation system is redesigned, more balanced and more flexible. Players can customise the strength of each draft generation to create the desired experience.

Special feature

Onside kick penalty rules are also updated according to reality. Now, only when your team is losing in the 4th quarter can you choose a situation similar to an onside kick: receive the ball at the 28-yard line and start from the 4th & 12 situation. This helps the match stick to the current competition rules more closely.
