Arcade Glide is a racing game with a twist. You latch on to anchor points at curves to fling your car around them. Sort of like a racing version of Stickman Hook. It may sound a little unusual at first, but that feeling of whipping the car around the turns is what makes the game so addictive. There are times when you get a perfect hook, the vehicle goes along the perfect line and slingshots out of the corner so smoothly, and it feels so much better than normal drifting.

As soon as the game begins, your car moves automatically along a track filled with sharp turns. Your task isn't to steer continuously, but rather to time your hooks onto the anchor points located at each corner. By holding down your mouse button or tapping the screen, you cause the car to pivot around that anchor point, as if being pulled by a rope.
Once you feel the rotation angle is just right, you release your hold to send the car hurtling forward onto the next section of the track. It sounds simple enough, but being even slightly off-beat will send your car flying straight off the road.
Points are awarded for every corner successfully cleared. Arcade Glide employs a refreshingly straightforward scoring system: successfully navigating a corner earns you one point.
Arcade Glide doesn't place a heavy emphasis on raw speed; instead, it focuses almost entirely on timing. The easiest trick to master is usually to release your hold the moment your car just begins to enter the central lane of the road.
The game has a nice track design where the center part of the track is a lighter gray color and the outer edges are a darker gray color, therefore creating three different lanes. You can judge quite well when it is right to let go by looking at your automobile in relation to these three lanes. Your eyes will adjust to the darkness, allowing you to react almost entirely on instinct without conscious thought.
Arcade Glide does not clutter the screen with a lot of graphic effects. The color palette and the user interface are basic as well as the racetrack.
But this simplicity is what allows gamers to really focus on the car’s movement and the tactile feeling of slicing through bends. Even if the graphics aren't something to write home about, there's something so visually fulfilling about pulling off a perfect slide around a tight corner, scraping the edge of the road and exiting in exactly the right spot.
It also has a currency system to unlock new vehicles in gameplay. These unlocks are more for the cosmetic flair, but they do give you a little bit of a sense of progression to keep you coming even after a string of consecutive crashes.
Arcade Glide is a fast-paced, reflex-based arcade title, easy to pick up, yet difficult to fully master. Once you’ve finished breaking records, you can switch gears and change the pace with Fireboy & Watergirl 7 to enjoy a more relaxed, cooperative puzzle-solving experience.
